THE story appeared in the Courier on Friday, January 30, issue 1018.
A PETITION has been launched in response to Devon County Council's proposed cuts to local bus services.
People across the county are being asked for their views on the proposed reductions to services.
Crediton Liberal Democrat councillor Nick Way who helped to launch the petition with bus driver, Chris Hugill said: "This is yet more bad news for bus users after the recent announcement to cut the town's bus services, provided by Tesco, in March.
"For many in our area the bus is the only way for them to get around and they rely totally on these services now under threat."
The petition can be found in many town shops including the Courier office.

What you told us ..........
I think that it's very sad if we lose bus services, especially the Tesco bus. It's very sad for the elderly and disabled and those with small children. I often catch the Tesco bus.
Dave Clark, Crediton
I often get the bus from Copplestone to Crediton. I understand that the cuts will affect the elderly and disabled. A lot of people who don't drive use the buses - they are always full. I will be very upset if they cut the Copplestone bus.
Daphne Griffiths, Copplestone
I have suggested to Tesco that they might subsidise the service in return for advertising on the bus and I have taken them letters from other passengers who would like to see the service continue. We would be happy with a reduced service, but if the service is stopped completely many elderly and disabled people will not be able to do their shopping.
