A NUMBER of local charities and organisations have been awarded much-needed funding by the Crediton Unity Lodge of Freemasons.
A presentation evening was held at Crediton Masonic Lodge, everyone welcomed by Worshipful Master Chris Burrow.
Master Burrow presented cheques as follows: Bow Primary School - £350 from the Lodge General Account and £100 from an individual Brother. Bang Bang Boxing Club - £300 and £500 from an individual Brother. The Turning Tides Project - £300. Pippins Pre-School - £300. Cadogan Court Nursing Home - £300. Hospiscare - £300. Age Concern Crediton - £300.
In addition, and following the recent Devonshire Freemasons, WAKE fund awards event, where, among 20 plus other Lodges in Devon, applications were made on behalf of Devon care organisations, Unity Lodge, successfully applied for £1,500, to assist Devon Carer's Child Carer project.
Andy Hood from Devon Carers gave a speech about Devon Carers and thanked the Unity Lodge and Devonshire Freemasons for their support.
Age Concern Crediton also received a donation from the Unity Mark Lodge, £150 presented by Allan Stanistreet.
Bow Primary School representatives said the funding would be used to pay for SEND provision and active play.
Phillipa and Jamie from The Turning Tides Project said that the money would be used towards access improvements to its gardens, festival and growing space at Four Mills Garden.
Sharleen and Donna from Pippins Pre-School said that the money would be used for revamping facilities at the Pre-School.
Colin Roth, a representative from the Lodge for Cadogan Court in Exeter, spoke about how the Nursing Home was established and its association with Freemasons.
Mark Vaughan spoke of the support his family had received from Hospiscare, thanking Unity Lodge for the donation.
Jamie Parker from Bang Bang Boxing Club said the funding would help provide more young people with boxing opportunities.
John Musty received the money for Crediton Age Concern and explained the valuable work the charity does.
Philip Bourne is the WAKE Fund Administrator for Unity Lodge 1332 and Peter Coleman is the Lodge Secretary and Charity Steward.
