KIER Services has said that it hopes the use of temporary traffic lights to complete emergency repairs to a defective sewage pipe in Union Road, Crediton, will not be required.

Works began last week to stabilise a wall as part of the works and this week work began to replace the sewer.

The pipe runs under steps off Union Road (opposite the town War Memorial) and it was believed the works would include major works requiring traffic lights on the A377.

It is hoped that the contractors will be able to complete the works before the town and hamlets Remembrance parade and wreath laying on November 9 and 11.
