CREDITON Operatic and Dramatic Society's production of The Baker's Wife, staged earlier this year, recently won two awards from the National Operatic and Dramatic Society.
NODA is the major representative body for amateur theatre in the UK with a membership of some 2,500 theatre groups covering 11 regions.
NODA presents awards to amateur groups nationwide and this year CODS was presented with a Certificate of Excellence as one of the 10 best South West shows during the year and The Wilfred Roe Trophy for Best Set Presentation in the South West.
CODS set designer Mike Palmer and one of the leading members, Dean Morgan, received the trophy on behalf of the society.
The trophy was presented by Robert Lumsden, NODA president.
Mike Palmer, a long-standing CODS member, both on and off stage, is now turning his talent to the forthcoming production, The Old Time Music Hall, which will be staged on November 27 and 28 in The Old Town Hall, Crediton.
Mike will be co-directing the entertainment and acting as the magniloquent Music Hall chairman on each evening.
Tickets will soon be on sale but everyone is asked to make a note in their diaries and join CODS in an evening saturated with a superabundance of splendiferous shenanigans.
