AN Open Garden event held over two days (September 4 and 5) at White Cottage, Belle Parade, Crediton, raised the fantastic sum of £2,002 for local charity, Hospiscare.

The delightful gardens at White Cottage contain many hidden areas and are bursting with colourful plants and boarders as well as interesting features.

It is a mature, south facing garden with water feature, vegetable garden, fruit trees, shrubs and beds, as well as a long terrace with a variety of interesting pots.

The garden and property are surrounded by a "crinkle crankle" wall, which sits on the edge of Newcombes Meadow.

Delicious light lunches, cream teas and cakes were available.

The weather was fine for the weekend and hosts Miranda and Roger Olver were pleased with the result.

Hospiscare has a couple more gardens opening to the public in October. The charity is thrilled that its Open Garden’s campaign has raised more than £36,000 to-date, which is record breaking.
