TO close such a happy residential home as St Lawrence, in Crediton, is totally wrong. Have the powers that be, who decided on this and other closures, actually done their homework? Have they actually checked to see if there are any private homes in Crediton? Not in the villages, where many relations and friends would find it very difficult to visit, but actually in the town, who could take the residents at the same price as what they pay at St Lawrence? If they do their homework, it is more than possible that there simply are not enough vacancies in Crediton to accommodate the St Lawrence residents (and at the same costs). If this is the case, they should reconsider and remember that some of those in St Lawrence probably went through World War Two and do not deserve to be treated as if they are simply numbers of no consequence.
