MORCHARD Bishop Parish Councillor Frank Yendell recently received a Certificate of Appreciation from Cllr Ken Browse, Chairman of the Devon Association of Local Councils and immediate past-Chairman for the National Association of Local Councils to mark his family’s 100 years of service to the Parish Council of Morchard Bishop.

Frank’s grandfather, Fred Yendell, was co-opted on to the Council on November 15, 1916.

When he stepped down in 1947 Frank’s father, also Frank, was elected on a show of hands. When Frank senior stepped down in 1987 his son was elected by secret ballot.

Frank had previously received a commemorative scroll from the Parish Council and had been granted the Freedom of Morchard Bishop.
