"WE’RE putting the fun back into fundraising, and we’re so happy to be back after an enforced absence of 18 months," says Diane Cummings, Chair of the Crediton Singers, the local choir that has raised many thousands of pounds for good causes throughout Mid Devon.

"People kept asking me when the choir was going to restart but we needed to wait until it was safe to do so and when venues were happy for us to return."

This coming Monday, August 23, the Crediton Singers re-opens its doors to current and new members. The choir now rehearses in the Karis Room at Crediton Congregational Church from 7pm to 9pm.

Diane continued: "The lockdown period was a huge challenge for everyone. One thing we know is that singing is great for mind, body and soul and being part of a group like this is really good for you. You can have fun, sing out, make friends and, at the end of each term, do a fantastic concert that entertains and raises money."

And you don’t need to have sung in a choir before to get involved. "Just come along and have-a-go," says Diane. "Everyone is really supportive and with a little patience you soon get used to learning the music."

All are welcome is the message. The Crediton Singers are now closely associated with The Music Makers’ Project run by Paul Vincent.

"It’s all about getting local people involved and providing a platform for local musicians to gain experience and knowledge," adds Diane. "We’ve sung at Music Makers’ events in the past and it seems like a really good opportunity to help promote music in Crediton."
