IT was a busy day at Morchard Bishop Vintage Rally and Family Fun Day with something to amuse and entertain the whole family.

So many went along that parking was filled to capacity and throughout the afternoon the weather remained fine.

The Vintage Rally had a large collection of veteran cars of all makes and ages plus tractors, motorbikes and stationary engines.

The champion in the Vintage section was a 1967 Massey Ferguson 135 tractor owned by Andrew Rice of Morchard Bishop.

Andrew received the championship award from Keith Partridge.

Andrew explained that his father-in-law, now aged 97, had bought the tractor in 1966, Andrew buying it from his brother-in-law in June 2924, Andrew and Wesley Powell from Lapford restoring the tractor to a very high standard.

There was fantastic singing from Copplestone Choir and the energetic Winkleigh Morris entertained.

Terry Moules Racing Ferrets were entertaining.

Other activities included welly hanging, a prize draw, face painting, inflatables and many stalls from charities, organisations, village groups and individuals.

There was a variety of food to satisfy all tastes – a barbecue, traditional teas, ice creams and cream teas and the Sports Club bar was open.

Lindfield Day Opportunities took along a selection of animals for people to admire including cattle, sheep, donkeys, peacocks and more.

The event is the primary fundraiser for Morchard Bishop Playing Field Association.

It thanks all who attend and support in any way, volunteers, the Emmanuel Chapel for the loan of marquees and running the barbecue, the vintage rally vehicle owners and judges and Sarah and The London Inn.
