THERE was some outstanding success for both Chulmleigh Community College teams in this year’s Ten Tors Challenge.

The College’s Green Team made particularly fantastic progress, finishing at 9.49am, second fastest on their route and in the top 15 teams out of 256 on the day, a great achievement for everyone.

The second team, the Pink Team, arrived back a little after 2pm, with several hours to spare.

The students faced some terrible weather conditions for their training during the past year, including snow, hail, wind, fog, rain or thunderstorms on every training walk except the mock Ten Tors (where there was a real danger of heatstroke).

The teams were praised for their resilience and outstanding navigation skills.

Caitlin Houghton filled a vacancy in the Sturminster team; it takes a lot of courage to step in and walk with a bunch of strangers, and shows how determined she was to take part.

Thanks went to Adrian Wade and James Britton, the College Ten Tors managers, and to all the parent volunteers who put in a lot of effort to help make the event run smoothly.

Praise also went to both teams.
