THREE generations of the same family completed, with two friends, a tandem sky dive last month in aid of a charity close to their hearts.
Nick Cordwent, chairman of the Crediton branch of ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund), his son, Matthew (18) and his mother, Rosemary (86), took part in a tandem skydive each at the Dunkeswell airfield.
The trio and their friends, Gloria (51) and Matthew Lloyd (26), sought sponsorship from family, friends, neighbours and anyone who would like to support their efforts.
From their efforts, to-date, the five have raised almost £7,400 but would still welcome donations.
Nick explained previously that he and his mother have both been treated for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and received “fantastic support” from the charity.
His son Matthew wanted to help the cause and also completed the tandem sky dive.
Nick described the sky dive as “sensational and awe-inspiring” and they all said they enjoyed the experience.
ELF supports families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders across the South West.
He said it provides accommodation, transport and patient support services as well as funding a clinical nurse specialist, a physiotherapy service and counselling services.
If you wish to donate, this can be done online at: www.justgiving.com/Team-Cordwent .
Nick added that the final figure of how much has been raised will be announced at a fundraiser with stand-up comedian Johnny Cowling on Thursday, September 8, at Bow Village Hall. Tickets, at £10, are available from Nick on 07971 694606.
A bar will operate and there will be pasties available. A raffle will also run and doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.
