SYLVIA and Martin Tucker and Sharon Baker and Family wish to send heartfelt thanks, as this was Year three of their “Light the Tree” project and they are very pleased with the results.
The large Christmas tree at the junction of East Street and Charlotte Street had spent many years without being decorated for various reasons. They decided to try to change that.
Each year, a wonderful group of volunteers have given up their time and money to help add Christmas cheer to this end of the town.
The Crediton Firefighters have been amazing in their support too, as without them, the higher parts of the tree would have been unreachable. A massive thank you to them!
We would also like to thank all of those listed below who kindly sponsored us so that we could make it happen: Broad Spec SW Ltd, Crediton Milling Company, Mrs Anne Hendy, The Lions Club of Crediton, Mrs Julie Northcott, Paint Pots of Crediton, Mrs Kate Reynolds, Tesco, Tuckers Country Store, Morrisons and Union Road Moto Velo.
This was also the first year we had a little competition “Make the East End of town sparkle”.
Prizes were awarded by the independent judges for Best Window display, won by Stephen and Mim Hastings of Number 9, Charlotte Street and Best Outside Space, which was won by Yvonne Crone of Hayward’s East.
Congratulations to both and thanks to all who took part. Thanks also go to Kaye Vinnicombe, a consultant with Scentsy, who donated the winners’ prizes.
We hope people enjoyed seeing the lights and hopefully next year will be just as successful.
Thank you all.
Scott Baker
