NEWTON St Cyres Parish Council has held a tea party to thank local volunteers for their hard work.

More than 60 people went along to the event at Sherwood House on Saturday, June 14, where they enjoyed finger sandwiches, crudités, various sweetmeats and drinks.

“In Newton St Cyres parish we are very lucky to have lots of volunteers who help run at least 16 different groups from road wardens to litter pickers to speed watch to a community kitchen,” said Parish Clerk Jane Hole.

“In previous years we have asked parishioners for nominations for a ‘Volunteer of the Year’ and one individual gets a certificate and their name on a plaque.

“However, this year with increasing numbers of volunteers we wanted to thank all volunteers equally.”
