BOOK-lovers can get a unique tour of the University of Exeter’s fascinating literary archives containing papers from authors such as Daphne du Maurier and Agatha Christie.

The special event, part of the Exeter Literary Festival, will allow people to explore Daphne du Maurier’s notebooks for Rebecca; Ted Hughes’s long-standing collaboration with the American artist, Leonard Baskin; Agatha Christie’s correspondence with her agent; and William Golding’s development of "Lord of the Flies" from manuscript to typescript to finished novel.

The tour, on Thursday, November 4, is free, but booking is essential.

There are two sessions, from 10am to 11.15am or 11.45am to 1pm, led by Tim Kendall, Professor of English at the University of Exeter, and the Academic Director of Special Collections.

The tour, which lasts approximately 75 minutes, will take place in Old Library Seminar Room A/B, Prince of Wales Road, EX4 4SB (follow signs to the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum).
