CHERITON Fitzpaine Drama Club held its annual Summer Scheme for young people during the summer holidays.
Directed by Vicky Lancelles (herself a graduate of the scheme) and supported by Geoff Burchmore and other helpers, the production was held on Friday and Saturday evenings and was well-attended.
The Friday performance was preceded by a substantial tea to which senior citizens were invited, and a team of mothers and helpers tended to their every need.
The evening was divided into short sketches, some of which were written by the young people themselves. They illustrated the skills they had learned at their summer school, including a very realistic demonstration of fighting skills.
All the young people had worked hard, but some were more confident than others. Luke and his sister Lily, Willow Tarragon, Holly Metcalf, Alleena Purchase and Thora Cliffe-Duffield were especially outgoing.
None of this performance would have been possible without the help of several adults, including David Pink, who erected the stage, and David Simms who supplied the music.
