DUE to Devon being in Tier 2, Crediton Parish Church has had to cancel the proposed St Nick’s Cafe, however it is delighted that it is still able to open the church.

Everyone can now go and see the Big Christmas Tree at Holy Cross from tomorrow, Saturday, December 5.

The church will be open from 10am to 5.30pm so that people can see the tree, light a candle and purchase Christmas cards, decorations and gifts from the church shop.

Children and adults are reminded not to forget to drop off their colouring competition and hand-made cards, too.

Tomorrow, Saturday, December 5, and also on Sunday, December 6 at 6pm, there will be a short Family Carol Service.

Go along and hear readings and carols sung by Holy Cross Choir with the “Big Tree” shining for “Comfort and Joy”, which is the theme in the diocese this year.  Prior booking is preferred – please contact Anne Jerman (01363 772865 or email: [email protected] to book your place.

For all of this, masks are required to be worn, unless exempt, and Covid secure arrangements will be in place.

The “Family Carols from Holy Cross” will be live streamed on the Holy Cross Facebook page from 6pm on Sunday, December 6 and will include images from previous Christmas Tree Festivals along with words to carols so that people can sing along at home.

The Parish Church extends thanks to Jo Ward and all those that have helped him to floodlight the church and also to decorate the “Big” tree.

CHRISTMAS TREE TREASURE TRAIL LAUNCH

The Church is very excited to have created a treasure trail around Crediton’s High Street.

This is part of filling the vacuum of the cancelled Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival along with the colouring and card competitions.

A total of 18 posters of Christmas Trees will appear from tomorrow, December 5, in various shop windows and locations near the High Street.

Each “tree” will have a unique Christmas carol or song on it in which a special letter will be highlighted.

The 18 letters, when rearranged, will form a phrase associated with Crediton.

Those who take part who correctly identify all the 18 carols/songs and solve the puzzle can enter into a prize draw with the first correct entry drawn by the Rector after the closing date of January 3, 2021.

There is no fee to take part or to enter the draw – please check out the Crediton Parish Church website or Crediton Festivals Facebook Page for a downloadable instruction sheet.

The sheets will be available during the Church opening tomorrow, Saturday, December 5, from 10am to 5.30pm and also at the Takeaway Christingle on December 12 from 10am to 12 noon.

The Takeaway Christingle has been arranged to replace the usual service and children are invited to collect their goody bag Christingle during the times as above.
