EARLIER in March an appeal had gone out that Spreyton Parish Church would be taking donations of goods for the Ukraine.

The response was so wonderful that the church was almost filled to overflowing with bags and boxes of just about everything anyone would need.

Two local people took one load to Poland while another went to the CR2EE charity in Exmouth to be taken out with other donations.

The first load included blankets, towels, medication, toiletries and baby clothes.  “The response was totally amazing and we had so many toothbrushes we could perhaps have supplied the whole village,” said Churchwarden Judith Talbot.  “You could just about squeeze past the bags in the church,” she added.

Everything was sorted, bagged and labelled before being loaded into a horse box and taken to Exmouth.
