NEWTON St Cyres’ annual Soup and Cheese Lunch was held in the Parish Hall and raised £314 for Parish Church funds.
There were four delicious soups on offer - chicken and vegetable, Armenian potato and leek, and bacon and lentil, all served with French bread.
Brie and Cheddar cheese was the second course, followed by tea or coffee. There was also a raffle with a number of prizes, for which tickets were sold by Margaret Walters and her grandaughter. Tony Hough was on the door, and also ran the draw, Anne Ward and Anne Mitchell were in the kitchen preparing the soups.
There was also a tombola stall, plus bric-a-brac and cake stalls.
There next event is a coffee morning on Saturday, March 5, in the Parish Hall from 10.30am to 12 noon, all welcome.
