SOPHIE Green (6), from Copplestone, was the winner of the Hunt the Elf competition at this year’s Christmas in Crediton Switch-On event and her prize was to switch on the lights on the giant Christmas tree and those around the Town Square on Saturday, November 25.

Sophie, who switched on the lights, with her father Rory and left, event compere Stu Wight.

She was assisted by her father Rory and event compere, Stu Wight.

Everyone who attended took part in the countdown and there was delight as the lights came on.

Prior to that it was a case of find Father Christmas, this year he appeared from the balcony of R and G Barbers, waving to the hundreds of people in the square.

The packed programme of afternoon entertainment included lovely singing by children from both of the town primary school’s, Hayward’s and Landscore.

The event was organised by Crediton Town Council and its Christmas in Crediton sub-committee.
