Siting of outdoor gym equipment - an alternative suggestion

LIKE some of your previous correspondents, I applaud the Town Council for their consultation on outdoor gym equipment but I, too, take issue with the suggested site adjacent to the public toilets.

As Newcombe’s Meadow is already quite “full” with other activities, I suggest placing the exercise stations in People’s Park which has plenty of room and spacing the equipment throughout this long park so that users can run between each one as part of their exercise routine – I think it’s called a trim trail.

Users can jog on the grass from one to the other so no further paths would be needed.

The fact that they are spaced apart encourages their use for the intended purpose and not as a congregating area for people at a loose end.  I have seen such a trail in The Meadows riverside park in Tavistock.

In my opinion, People’s Park is a scenic and restful place to exercise and this would be an opportunity to spread out sporting amenities across the town without changing the peaceful nature of this lovely open space.

Does anyone else agree?
