AFTER meeting at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre we followed the path beside the sports pitches and over fields to join the Shobrooke road which then led us to the lower entrance to the park.

From here it was a short stroll to the lake where a small flock of Canada geese were seen and then onto the long drag upwards through the park beneath the trees to the crossroads.

A short walk down a small road next before we came across a path heading down over a field still with a few butterflies on the wing to Westacott Cottage where we turned onto the path, eventually meeting the fast flowing brown River Creedy and surprising an egret as we passed.

It was then a short walk back to the Leisure Centre.

We are currently looking to recruit Volunteer Walk Leaders for the Crediton area. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Claire Ridge on 01392 824752 or email: [email protected] .

Crediton Walk and Talk group meets fortnightly at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre at 9.45am.

Walks start from the Leisure Centre or nearby villages and take around 90 minutes, covering about three miles, but this does not include travelling times.

Anyone is welcome and walks are free to join. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome, as long as they are kept on a short lead.

The next walk is on Friday, October 27.
