MID Devon residents are being warned to be aware that a scam letter is currently circulating purporting to have been sent by Mid Devon District Council (MDDC).

MDDC warns that if you receive a letter similar to the one in the image shown, then please be aware that it has not been sent to you by Mid Devon District Council.

The council says that several local authorities are aware of this potentially misleading advertising material being sent to addresses in their area.

The company in question (Energy Savings Grants), originates from Manchester and their promotional material gives the impression that it is council approved.

MDDC says that there is a government scheme linked to the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) – Flexible eligibility, but Mid Devon District Council cannot provide advice as to which company carries out work under the scheme.

The council’s role is to check the applications for funding to see that they meet the "Statement of Intent" criteria, which is available at: https://www.middevon.gov.uk/residents/housing/private-sector-housing/energy-company-obligation-flexible-eligibility/

If you have any queries having received a letter of this type, please contact: [email protected] .
