SANDFORD’S scarecrow trail, which took place during the summer holidays, proved a very popular activity for all the family and raised £707 for the village Playgroup funds.

The trail, which had a “Movies” theme, offered the follower beautiful walks in and around Sandford, while hunting for the scarecrows.

The life-like scarecrows included Mary Poppins, Calendar Girls, Jaws, Star Wars, ET, Titanic, 101 Dalmations and Superman.

Top winners of the trail were: 1 Henry Vaz Haley, 2 The Carter Family, 3 Martha, Robin, Miriam, Adam, Alexander and Catherine.

The favourite scarecrow, created by The Hemmings Family, was R2D2 from Star Wars.

Organisers thank everyone who took part and helped raise this amazing sum of money, which will be used for playgroup funds.
