Following the usual business of reading the previous year’s minutes and presentation of parish accounts, the chairman gave the Annual Report for 2015/2016, a year she had shared with Jim Stephens.
Events that had taken place in the year had included the opening of seven Affordable Homes at Creedy View.
The parish council were still in the legal process of acquiring the Creedy View play area and parish car park.
A review of Council Standing Orders had taken place. Plans were now in-hand to implement the new Transparency Code which would see a new parish council website which would enable council business to be published in more detail.
The Definitive Map review of the Parish was nearing completion. In March a presentation had taken place on Neighbourhood Plans.
The proposed development at Pedlarspool had once again hit the headlines. (Both Margaret Squires, Devon County Council and Judi Binks, Mid Devon District Council, gave a short presentation on these proposals later in the meeting).
Plans were proceeding well for Parish Celebrations in June for the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
There was one vacancy for a Parish Councillor.
In closing her report, the chairman thanked parish councillors and the clerk for their support in what had been a very busy year.
A Presentation was then given by Phillip Harvey on behalf of Sandford Football Club, and Andrew Webb, on behalf of Sandford PC, on plans to create the Sandford Community Sports Pavilion.
A grant application had been made to Sport England and a response would be received in April as to whether the application had been successful.
Mike Brett then gave a short presentation on behalf of "Broadband for Rural Crediton" entitled: “Who we are and what we are trying to do”.
The meeting closed with refreshments and an opportunity to view displays provided by parish organisations.
