BT have informed Sandford Parish Council that due to lack of use the East Village red call box is to be removed and have asked whether the council would like to adopt the box (minus its contents) for one pound?

The council would like to know the opinion of the parishioners in East Village as to whether the call box (minus its contents) should be retained. Comments to the Parish Clerk, email: [email protected]">[email protected] in time for the next meeting on November 5.

The council are also to report to BT the dirty state of the call box in Mill Lane and the need for it to have a coat of paint.

Representatives from the Community Council of Devon MDDC (Planning Department) were due to visit Sandford on October 8 to look at the sites put forward as possible locations for Affordable Housing in the Parish.

The council are awaiting the publication of the MDDC "Proposed Submission Development Plan Document" which will include proposals for Pedlarspool. An exhibition is planned at the MDDC Offices in Crediton on October 22 (11am to 7pm) and interested parishioners are urged to attend.

Comments on the revised proposal need to be submitted to MDDC by November 17 and the comments will then be considered by The Public Inspector.

The parish council were surprised that they received no notification of the Public Exhibition held in Crediton at the end of September on proposals for the Crediton Link Road.

MDDC have sent details of The Big Litter Pick. The parish council would be interested to hear from any parish organisation (e.g. Scouts etc) who would be interested in co-ordinating this event in Sandford.

The Community Policeman reported that there have been six minor crime incidents in Sandford parish over the summer months. These have included "Rural Breaks" and PC Roberts stressed the need for parishioners to keep their vehicles and properties locked.

The police have been unable to establish any major speeding issue at New Buildings and they are aware of the problem of traffic causing obstruction by parking on Back Lane.

The Council would still like to hear from any parish organisation who are interested in receiving grant aid from council funds.

The next meeting of the council takes place on November 5 at Sandford Congregational Church Hall, starting at 7.30pm. MJV
