KATIE Martin (6), who attends Cheriton Fitzpaine Primary School, has "bagged" her school a great prize by winning a competition to design a shopping bag.

The competition was to mark the opening of the new Tesco store in Crediton in December and Katie, with her design called Mr Fruity, was chosen as the winner.

The winning prize was for 5,000 shopping bags to be produced bearing her design and the bags will be sold to raise money for Cheriton Fitzpaine Primary School.

Andrew Drayton, Community Champion for Tesco Crediton, said: "It's a colourful design that goes well on the bag. We expect the 5,000 to sell really quickly.

"It's great that Cheriton Fitzpaine School won as they are having a whole new school built and the money raised from selling the bags will help the transition to new premises enormously."

The bags can be purchased from the school itself and will also be sold at the Customer Service desk within the Crediton store at Wellparks.

They are available at 75p each or two for £1.20 and all of the money goes directly to the school.
