IMPROVING the safety of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who use the A377 between Crediton and Exeter will be discussed at the next meeting of the A377 Action Group.

The MP for Central Devon, Mel Stride, the head of Devon Highways and the Devon County Councillor with portfolio for highways, together with representatives from the police, local councillors and members of the public will be attending.

At the meeting, which will be held at Upton Pyne Parish Hall beginning at 7.30pm on Friday, March 23, it is hoped that a strategy can be produced for the stretch of road.

The group was formed to follow up action points following Parish Plans for both Newton St Cyres and Upton Pyne Parish Councils.

Issues expected to be raised include speeding vehicles at Smallbrook as well as speed problems at Newton St Cyres, Half Moon and Cowley/Three Horse Shoes.

A number of proposals are to be discussed.

The meeting will also look at the possibility of a cycle/pedestrian way between Crediton and Cowley Bridge, Exeter and other transport issues.

The public are invited to attend and there will be an item on the agenda for the public to have an input and raise issues of concern.
