OLYMPIC runner, Jo Pavey from Honiton has signed up for Champion for the Children's Run, which will take place on April 29 and 30 to help raise funds for the local charity Children's Hospice South West.

The charity's Champion for Children, John Reynolds will be running 110 miles from the charity's hospice Little Bridge house in North Devon, to their second hospice in North Somerset.

Jo will be joining John on the first leg of his journey. John will run the distance of over four marathons, back-to-back and non-stop.

Jo explained: "As I was born and grew up in Devon, my heart has and always will be here in the south west, even if my job takes me further a field sometimes."

John added: During this whole experience I have met so many interesting and dedicated people who work so hard to raise money for the charity and I am so glad that this event will help to bring in vital funds to help them to continue to provide care and support to life-limited children and their families."

John would like to invite individuals and runnning clubs from across the region to join him in a leg of the journey. The route has been broken down into 10 legs of about 10 miles each and a maximum of 50 runners can join him on each section of the route.

A member of the children's hospice will be joining him and anyone who would like to join John on the run can contact him by email: [email protected]">[email protected] or contact Alexa Garner, community fundraiser for the Children's Hospice South West on (01275) 866600.
