THE 2024 Classic FM ‘Rising Star’, the saxophonist Rob Burton, is coming to Crediton to perform for the Saint Boniface Concert Society on Thursday, July 2 at 7.30pm.

The concert, to include works by Piazzolla, Bach, Demersseman, will be held in Crediton Parish Church, with free parking and disabled access.

Rob Burton is a London-based saxophonist and artist, winner of the Woodwind Final of BBC Young Musician 2018.

He has appeared as soloist with leading orchestras and at major festivals, and performs regularly at prestigious UK venues. Interestingly, Rob is also an accomplished oil painter, having appeared on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year.

Playing with Rob will be Mark Rogers, an American pianist specialising in vocal and chamber music.

Mark has played at major song festivals including Leeds Lieder and the International Lied Festival Zeist, working with outstanding artists such as Christian Gerhaher and Felicity Lott.

With baritone Florian Störtz, he won the Prix de Mélodie at the Concours Nadia et Lilli Boulanger, and first prize at the Helmut Deutsch Lieder Competition.

Mark performs widely across the UK and Europe, and writes programme notes for Wigmore Hall.

The Saint Boniface Concert Society is a local charity dedicated to bringing top-flight professional musicians to Crediton.
