THE 2022 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal National Launch will take place on Thursday, October 27.

Jane Sansom, the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Crediton, explained that collecting boxes and poppies for the Appeal will be distributed to the community locally in Crediton on Friday, October 28 and wreaths will be ready for collection from this date from LeRoy’s 94/95 High Street, Crediton.

Jane said: “Collections at both Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets will commence on Monday, October 31.

“Anyone who would like to assist even for just an hour, their help would be greatly appreciated.

“You do not need to be a member of the Legion to give your time. Please contact me, Jane Sansom on 07989 934810.”

Locally, the Garden of Remembrance at the Crediton Parish Church (main gate) will be dedicated on Saturday, October 29 at 10.45am for 11am.

On Friday, November 11, Armistice Day, two minutes’ silence will be held at 11am at the Crediton Town and Hamlets War Memorial, assemble from 10.45am.

The Remembrance Service at Crediton Parish Church on Remembrance Sunday, November 13, will begin at 10am followed by the Laying of Wreaths and Silence at the War Memorial at about 11am.

It will then be followed by the taking of the Salute in Crediton Town Square immediately afterwards.
