THE second annual Sustainable Crediton Green Fair was held in Crediton’s Town Square on Saturday, September 24.
It saw a great attendance, many people visiting the wide range of stalls, finding out about projects run by Sustainable Crediton or about other groups and organisations and what they do.
There were displays about Sustainable Crediton’s pollinator project, woodland management group, community allotment, information about green banking, tips on sustainable living, seed sharing, tree planting, lift sharing, to name just some.
There were stalls by Orchards Live, Devon Wildlife Trust, The Bike Shed, Crediton Garden Club, Newton St Cyres Environment and Well-being Group and The Turning Tides Project.
Also there was the smoothie bike, community energy information and live music.
There was also an opportunity for people to update the group’s “Wish Tree”, on which people could hang messages to Mel Stride, the MP for Central Devon.
The Community Larder volunteers served a range of home-made soups, cakes and savoury items, thanks to businesses who donated ingredients, Four Seasons, The Greenhouse, Morrisons, Stevie B’s and Tesco.
Those enjoying the food were invited to pay what they could afford and the volunteers said people had been very generous in their donations.
Extinction Rebellion’s local group of the Red Rebels “Fire” caused people to stop and think.
The international performance activist troupe is dedicated to illuminating the global environment crisis and supporting groups and organisations fighting to save humanity and all species from mass extinction.
The Red Rebels walked around the Fair and also up and down Crediton High Street.
The Fair ran from 11am to 2pm.
The event was also used to launch the Mid Devon Wildlife Warden Scheme and the Babes on Bikes also cycled to attend.
