RAIL disruption due to inclement weather on both the Dartmoor and Tarka lines via Crediton is continuing for a second day.

Fallen trees on the tracks means trains are currently unable to run between Exeter and Okehampton or Exeter and Barnstaple.

“Specialist teams will be used to inspect the [lines] to check for any damage and to remove fallen trees,” a Great Western Railway spokesperson said.

“Until this has been done we are unable to run any trains.

“The nature of the work means it is difficult to estimate how long this will take, we do not expect to be able to run trains before 2pm at the earliest, and it could be later if more trees than expected are found.

“Replacement road transport has been requested. The replacement transport will be taxis, please check station signs and wait at the designated pick-up point.

“At Okehampton Interchange taxis will pick up from the station car park off Higher Stockley Mead.

“At Barnstaple taxis will pick up from the station car park opposite the accessible parking spaces.”

Customers can use their tickets at no extra cost on local buses 5, 5A, 5B and 5C and 369.
