AN autumn celebration of apples, artisan food and sustainability was enjoyed at Quicke's Farm Shop, Newton St Cyres when it held a celebration of Apple Day.

The sunshine brought out the crowds from far and near and they not only enjoyed Quicke's Traditional cheese but also freshly pressed apple juice from apples from the farm orchard.

There were apple pancakes made by Tim Harris, The Devon Chef and Sandford Orchards from Crediton made mulled cider.

There was apple bobbing, food demonstrations, kids activities, live music, a hog roast and much more.

Many local food and drink producers were present and offering tastings and sales of some great local produce.

Kate Povey of Crediton was there with dozens of samples of varieties of apple with Orchards Live, which is promoting orchards in Mid and North Devon.

Quickes Traditional cheeses were available as well as the wide range of other cheeses, cream and products made on the farm.

Chinn's Sausages, from Chinn's of Crediton, were cooked and greatly enjoyed and Linscombe Farm had a display of some of the produce available.

Other local farmers and producers were also there to answer questions about the food and drink they produced.

This was the first Apple Day event at Quicke's Farm Shop and given its success looks like being repeated in future years.
