FARMERS and cheese makers Quicke's Traditional Ltd of Newton St Cyres are celebrating having won 50 awards at the cheese shows in 2011, the biggest haul ever!

The awards have been spread evenly across the whole range of cheeses, with even the newest product, Quicke's Traditional Ewes Milk Cheese, having won awards at the British Cheese Awards, Frome Cheese Show, Royal Bath and West and the recent World Cheese Awards.

Award highlights in the year include the Mature Cheddar winning Best Traditional Cheddar at Frome Cheese Awards and Best Cheese Made in Devon at the Devon County Show.

The Hard Goats Cheese won the Prince of Wales Award for Outstanding Quality at the Great Yorkshire Show and was Best Export Cheese at the British Cheese Awards, where Quicke's also won Best Cheddar with their Mild Cheddar.

The team has also been recognised for all their work by being awarded Best Speciality Producer at the Great Taste Awards.

Mary Quicke, Managing Director commented: "I'm so proud of our cheese that we've had such a great run of top awards. I'm proud of our whole team, right the way from cows, cheesemaking, storing and selecting and the awards recognises that.

We have just had some feedback from a customer: 'Quicke's can't do anything wrong, the cheese is brilliant'. The awards say that!"

The Quicke family has been making cheese for 25 years on the farm it has owned for more than 450 years.

The dairy at Home Farm is set in 1,500 acres of stunning Devon countryside and the cheese is made using the rich creamy milk from its own herd of 500 dairy cows.

Every truckle is handmade by one of the skilled cheese makers before being wrapped in muslin and carefully matured for anything up to 24 months.

So, if you are looking for a truly artisanal product, you can't go wrong with one of Quicke's Traditional's range of cheeses, the experts know what they're talking about!

Quickes cheeses are available from their own farm shop at Newton St Cyres or from all good cheese stockists!
