A WOMAN who was the secretary of the Eggesford Hunt Point-to-Point for 25 years was thanked for her service at the hunt’s recent opening meet held near North Tawton.

Valerie Quick was presented with a decanter and glasses, bouquet of flowers and bottle of whiskey by Hugh Trerise, chairman of the hunt.

Jason Marles, Master and chairman of the Point-to-Point, said: “I would like to thank Valerie for all her help and commitment.

“She has run it all for 25 years and I have only been here for five years.

“I am pleased to say that Valerie has accepted the position of President of the Point-to-Point for next year, which is well deserved.

‘I would like to wish you all the best with your retirement but I am sure we will be on the telephone to seek your advice.”
