FIREFIGHTERS are currently tackling a house fire in the Hollacombe area west of Crediton.

The blaze in an upstairs bedroom was reported to the fire service just before 5pm today, Sunday, November 30.

Crews from Crediton and Exeter Danes Castle were sent to the scene immediately.

When they got there, they requested two more fire engines and a water bowser due to the roof being “well alight”.

Firefighters from North Tawton, Exeter Middlemoor, Honiton and Torquay were mobilised. Later, a second water bowser was sent to the scene from Barnstaple.

The fire service has asked National Grid to attend the incident.

Crews are currently using three main jets to extinguish the blaze. They have been making steady progress as of 7.15pm.

Further updates as we have them.
