WHEELBARROWS, watering cans, plant pots, even a mini greenhouse were among all the plants and other goods for sale to raise funds for Crediton Parish Church at a recent event.

Ted Staite with other Parochial Church Council members had organised the morning at the Boniface Centre to raise money towards the upkeep of the church.

It costs the PCC £120,000-a-year to cover running costs such as utility bills.

This does not include repairs which the Governors have to pay.

Crediton Parish Church has just been designated a Major Parish Church by the Church Buildings Council.

The plants included a number of specimen geraniums from Bert Jewell and Joan Tolley.

Ted and Pauline Staite and Gill Lee had been growing plants from cuttings and a number of other plants had been donated. Bill Jerman had grown the foxgloves and oriental poppies.

Karen White and her team were looking after the teas, coffee and cakes while Ann Jerman and helpers were running a bits and pieces stall. Gary Adams ran the garden sundries stall, all of which had been donated.

Bert Jewell said that plans were going ahead for the Britain in Bloom judging at Crediton in July.
