PLANS for 200 solar panels in a field at a farm south of Shobrooke have been given the thumbs-up.
Ed Puddicombe can now install a “fully reversible” ground-mounted solar array at Wyke Farm arranged in four rows across 1,265 square metres.
The panels will be mounted on galvanised steel frames, have a maximum height of around 2.2 metres, and use underground cables. No new access routes will be needed and no noise generated.
“The proposal would provide renewable energy generation in a rural location and would be positioned close to the existing farmstead,” said Mid Devon District Council, approving the application.
“The proposal would deliver an on-site biodiversity net gain and no objections have been received from the highway authority, South West Water, Shobrooke Parish Council or the [district] council’s tree officer.”
