LOCAL independent house builder Devonshire Homes and DCH (Devon and Cornwall Housing, Open Market and Affordable Homes) have acquired 18 acres of land for a new homes development in Crediton at Wellparks.

After a public consultation in 2016, outline permission was granted by Mid Devon District Council for a 185 home scheme named Tarka View delivered by Devonshire Homes.

A total of 50 of these homes will be affordable and delivered by DCH.

“The purchase of this land marks an exciting start to the year for Devonshire Homes and we are delighted to be embarking on this joint venture with DCH,” commented Daniel Stephenson, Devonshire Homes chairman.

He added: “We look forward to delivering high quality one bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroomed homes at Tarka View that are stylish, practical and sympathetic to their locality.”

Daniel continued: “Once we have received the detailed planning permission we will be starting construction on site.

“Prior to the show homes launch, we will open a temporary sales office but prospective homebuyers can register their interest on our website now to receive more information as soon as it is available.”

The development will be at Wellparks looking out over The Tarka Line at the gateway to Crediton.As part of the planning permission under the Section 106, various contributions are to be made which include: cycle voucher for £50 and a travel voucher for £250 for each household; education contributions to Hayward’s Primary School of £508,360; highways contribution of £114,041.40 in addition to £10,000 for Highways and pedestrian safety initiatives.

Devonshire Homes is a local company based in Tiverton where it employs more than 40 people.

The company’s nominated charity for 2016 is Hospiscare and as well as supporting a variety of fundraising activities, the house builder donates £50 to the charity for every open-market sale.
