PLANS for a new Timpson kiosk at Crediton’s Tesco Superstore have been given the green light.
It will offer dry cleaning, shoe repairs, key-cutting, engraving and photo processing at the entrance to the supermarket.
Town councillors had objected to the proposal over fears the new kiosk would harm local businesses, but Mid Devon District Council, approving the application, said it would have a “limited impact” on existing traders and contribute to “customer choice”.
“By virtue of the kiosk building being small in size and sited on an area of hardstanding in front of the existing food store, it is not considered to harm the vitality and viability of similar town centre uses and is suitably scaled for the existing site,” said a district council spokesperson.
