A NEW partnership between The Turning Tides Project CIC (TTTP) and Dolphin Stairlifts in Crediton is demonstrating how local organisations can work together to make a positive difference to the environment while supporting the local community.
The Turning Tides Project CIC is passionate about sustainability, community and creating opportunities through practical projects.
One of its latest initiatives sees discarded wooden pallets being given a new lease of life, transformed into attractive, practical planters rather than being sent to waste.
The up-cycled planters are made using materials that might otherwise have little value, turning something destined for disposal into a useful and long-lasting product.
Perry Carpenter, Managing Director Dolphin Stairlifts (South West) Ltd, said: “We are always looking for ways to reduce waste and support our local community.
“We are thrilled to see our wooden pallets being given a new lease of life by the talented team at Turning Tides. What started out as packaging from our stairlift projects has been transformed into something beautiful and useful for the community. It's a wonderful example of sustainability in action, and we're proud to support such an inspiring local initiative."
"Local businesses and individuals have a real opportunity to support each other," says Dominic Palfreman, Senior Project Manager at The Turning Tides Project.
He added: "By collaborating, we can reduce waste, encourage people to shop locally and demonstrate that sustainability can be practical, affordable and beneficial for everyone. This project offers Supported Employment roles, decreases waste, creates a locally produced and useful product to be proud of.
“With the support of our long standing friends at Dolphin Stairlifts, the positive impact we can have is only made greater. What a perfect solution to a shared problem - waste, and consumer culture."
