EAST Worlington School, near Witheridge, Crediton, is celebrating after being endorsed by Ofsted with a “Good” grade.

Suzy Pinn, Head of school, said: “We were delighted with this report, which marks the hard work done by the children and staff at the school.

“Every one of the parents, 100 per cent of those who responded to the questionnaire, were completely positive about the school, which Ofsted said was unique.

“We are a unique school combining traditional values with a modern education.

“Our children are well-mannered and behaved, and enjoy a curriculum which puts an emphasis upon the basics and a focus upon being innovative; the school has state-of-the-art computer equipment and puts a high value upon music and PE.

“We will be adding the Ofsted award to our bronze games mark starting this year; gymnastics, games, fencing, swimming and dance. Our PTFA pay for all trips and events enabling an amazing range of interactive learning experiences.

“We take children from the age of two, and when they get to Year six, they join our Year six Academy which prepares them for secondary school at Chulmleigh College. This Ofsted inspection was a great endorsement of all the hard work we are doing, and of our special community.”

The Ofsted report included the comments: “The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. East Worlington Primary School is a happy, welcoming school that instils a love of learning.”

Parents typically describe the school as “a lovely school in a safe and nurturing environment”.

As one parent explained: “The school gives pupils the building blocks to be a good person as well as a bright one.”
