THE five yearly fabric inspection at Holy Cross parish church, Crediton took place at the end of February and the full report of the findings and recommendations is expected to arrive in time for the next Church Governors' meeting on Tuesday, April 8.

An advance summary of findings about the condition of the roof coverings and high level masonry has been received and has revealed several problems that will require specialist investigations.

The most urgent matter relates to a five metre section of parapet to the north side of the church, between the Buller Door and the east wall of the Friends' Chapel. As a precautionary measure the area beneath this length of parapet has been coned and roped off.

Bill Jerman explained: "We would ask that anyone walking along this section of the north side of the church keep out of this area, for their own safety.

"We hope to organise and carry out the required repairs as soon as possible," he added.
