THE paddling pool at Newcombes Meadow, Crediton has opened yesterday, Wednesday, June 1, along with the pool at Westexe Park ,Tiverton.

The pools reopened in time for young families to be able to make the most of the summer sunshine and enjoy hours of fun outside this half term.

Work has been carried out on both pools during the off-season to freshen them up ready for this summer.

Picnic tables have been returned to Westexe pool so that families can enjoy a bite to eat.

Fencing has also been installed at Westexe to keep the well-used site safer during the day and secure in the summer evenings.

Steve Densham, Property Services Manager at Mid Devon District Council said: “We are delighted to be able to open our paddling pools at Westexe and Newcombes Meadow for another year.

“They are much-loved assets for the local community and especially popular when we have warm weather – let’s hope for a great summer full of warm sun and blue skies!

“We will have a team who will pop in regularly to check on each site which includes testing the pool water three-times-a-day, seven-days-a-week to ensure that it is safe to use and clean.

“We have provided rubbish bins so please use them or take your rubbish home with you, to keep the pools clean and open for all.”

Both pools will be open to the public from 10am until 6pm, seven-days-a-week.
