THERE were many smiling faces at Chulmleigh College again this year as Year 11 pupils at the North Devon Secondary School recorded yet another outstanding year of GCSE results.
Pupils, parents and staff celebrated outstanding results across the board at the ever popular North Devon school with pupils once again demonstrating that great attendance, good manners and old-fashioned hard work brings great results.

Mr Payne, Headteacher of Chulmleigh College commented: “All of us at the College are delighted by how well this cohort has done and we are incredibly proud of each and every pupil.
“We are used to achieving fantastic results at this school – but when you think of how covid affected this cohort during their Year 6 and Year 7 – it makes these results very special.
“I would like to express my thanks and admiration to the parents of these pupils, their teachers and our staff and of course the pupils themselves for everything they have achieved.
“This Year Group has been a wonderful group of children to work with, we will miss them but wish them every success for their future studies, training and careers.”

Some Early Headlines:
82% of children in Year 11 achieved both English and Mathematics GCSEs with at least a grade 4.
61% of children in Year 11 achieved both English and Mathematics GCSEs with at least a grade 5.
The Attainment 8 figure for Chulmleigh College is 54.09
87% of pupils entered the English Baccalaureate (EBACC), 62% of pupils achieved the EBACC at a minimum of grade 4 and above. 46% of pupils achieved the EBACC at a minimum of grade 5 and above. The Average Point Score (APS) for EBACC was 5.25.
Francesca Trimming gained 11 GCSEs. 8 of these grades were the highest - Grade 9.
Lottie Jackson gained 10 GCSEs. 6 of these grades were the highest - Grade 9.
Harrison Jordan gained 10 GCSES. 7 of these grades were highest - Grade 9 and two were grade 8.
Samuel Cummings gained 10 GCSEs. 3 of these grades were the highest – Grade 9 and four were grade 8.

“I am thrilled with my results! I worked hard so I had hoped for good grades, but I did much better than I expected. I would like to thank the school and all my teachers for helping and supporting me on this journey”, said Sam Cummings.
“I feel really proud of myself for these results. I have worked hard throughout these last few years and it is such a relief for it all to have paid off in the end. Thank you so much to all the teachers over the years for their help and guidance: I couldn’t have done it without them!”, said Francesca Trimming.
