Stevie B’s use organic flour and seeds in their baking

AS one of the only truly organic bakeries in the South West Stevie B’s take their role in the organic movement very seriously and with more than 75 breads and 25 other products on their certification it is no small undertaking.

"It is not about a fad diet or the latest celebrity trend, it is about caring what you put into your body and looking after the environment," says co-owner Lyn.

Organic wheat is grown naturally with no pesticides, with as little impact on the environment as possible.

More people are becoming sensitive to soya and improvers so we use "clean label” ingredients and all our breads including the speciality breads are made using an organic base.

The flours Stevie B’s use are milled in a lovely old restored watermill in the cool valley of Tetbury in Gloucestershire.

The organic wholemeal flour is stoneground and the organic white it is not bleached like some flours giving it a milky colour with a richer flavour, which is why Stevie B’s use it in all their pastry and cakes.
