I WRITE with regards to the potholes story, reported by George Davey, and featured in the "Courier" on January 26 entitled "Shocking and dangerous potholes near Tedburn St Mary".

These potholes had been reported at least five times and patched at least three times, but the drain in the photograph was under six inches of mud before it was cleared and the pothole was finally patched on Monday, January 31.

But now, just seven days later (February 5) it’s as bad again.

In the words of Isambard Kingdom Brunel: "If you keep its feet and its head dry it will last forever."

Devon County Council are "pennywise and pound foolish."
