THE official launch of the newly formed Crediton Running Network (CRN) will be held at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre (LMLC), Crediton on Saturday July 16.
The day will start with three social runs of two, four and six miles to cater for runners of all abilities, meeting at LMLC for a 9.30am start. All runners are welcome.
The launch ceremony will start at 11am and the guest speaker will be local marathon runner, Ian Webber, who lives near Coldridge. Ian has run 10 consecutive London Marathons and raised more than £32,000 for various charities and is an inspiration to all runners.
It is hoped that sponsors and local dignitaries will attend the event along with anyone who has an interest in running.
The CRN is a non-profit making organisation that was set up to continue the good work of the Women's Running Network, which recently folded.
The CRN's qualified volunteer coaches and leaders are keen to also keep the ethos alive and have adopted it as their own, believing that anyone can take up running, regardless of their age, shape, size and ability.
All the existing groups run by CRN coaches and leaders have continued, as well as some new groups starting up, to encourage both male and female runners from the age of 12 years upwards.
The CRN are the official running partner for LMLC and most groups meet at the centre.
Membership forms for CRN will be available at the launch and anyone signing up on the day will receive a free water bottle donated by LMLC.
