CHILDREN from Sunflowers Day Nursery are helping Crediton Town Council Public Open Spaces committee look after the Wildlife Garden in People’s Park.

The children and staff from the Nursery have taken charge of feeding the birds in the wildlife area, the feeders provided by a generous benefactor.

During a recent visit to the Wildlife Garden the children took part in the Town Council’s Wildlife Hunt, ticking off the wildlife they found while they were there.

Copies of the Wildlife Hunt sheets, which children can even complete in their own garden or elsewhere, are available from the offices of Crediton Town Council and the “Crediton Courier”, Crediton Library and a number of shops in the town.

A tidy up and planting day will be held at the Wildlife Garden on Saturday, October 8, starting at 10am, and more people are invited along to help.

If you can help, please contact Crediton Town Clerk, Mrs Clare Dalley at Crediton Town Council on telephone 01363 773717.

The Wildlife Garden was created by volunteers from Community Payback assisting the Public Open Spaces committee members.

Children from Landscore and Hayward’s Primary Schools helped build bug and bee hotels and Pippins Pre-School and Nursery children planted herbs in the planters, which were donated by Tesco.

The council thanks those who assisted with the project, including Kendra Ezekiel, Laura Conyngham and Yvonne Crone.
