READERS of last week’s “Courier” (February 19) will have seen Frank Letch’s letter reporting that the authorities have refused the use of a hospital room for a meeting of local people concerned about the availability of health care in the Crediton area.
It is worth noting that in the same week I (on behalf of the League of Friends of Crediton Hospital) had written a cheque for more than £2,000 to supply four items of equipment requested by the hospital.
It is sobering to note that, while the hospital authorities are prepared to accept our money, they are not willing to provide local people with a forum to discuss the way services are provided because our views on the subject are different from theirs.
I suppose we should not be surprised; after all, no notice at all seems to have been taken of the views of local people during the recent process of "consultation".
